John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) is requested to go on a mission behind enemy lines in Afghanistan with his old friend and former commanding officer Colonel Sam Trautman (Richard Crenna). After declining Trautman’s request, Trautman gets captured by the Soviets. Afterwards Rambo ends up going to rescue Trautman on an unofficial mission. The mission is helped along by the Mujahedeen rebels fighting the Soviets. With the help of the Mujahedeen Rambo is able to successfully rescue Trautman from the Russian Colonel Zaysen (Marc de Jonge). Afterwards Rambo & Trautman have to escape the heavily defended Soviet camp in which Trautman was being held captive.
