| Plot |
| Stacy (Brittany Murphy) works as a producer for a daytime talk show, The Kippie Kann (Kathy Bates) Show. Stacy's boyfriend Derek (Ron Livingston) never wants to discuss his previous relationships, and doesn't really share much about himself. Stacy's friend Barb (Holly Hunter) convinces her to snoop around for clues about Derek's previous relationships. When she finds his electronic black book she is compelled to investigate the women so that she can know more about him. Hilarity ensues as she meets Derek's various exes, and compares herself to them. All is going well, more or less, until she meets and becomes friends with "The Girlfriend" Joyce (Julianne Nicholson). Stacy feels very insecure when compared with Joyce and begins to doubt her worthiness of Derek. Everything comes out in an explosive ending that is both funny and moving. |
